Description

He has been called the “Flying Finn,” the “Iceman” and “Mika the Magnificent.” As the most successful Finnish driver in Formula One history, and with 20 wins, Hakkinen was a quiet man on a circuit full of flash. Born on Sept. 28th, 1968 near Helsinki, he began racing go-karts when he was 5. Within three years, he was a karting champion. In 1991, after more than a decade working his way up, Hakkinen jumped from formula 3000, the minor leagues of open-wheel racing, to F1.
