Description

This generation of Tundra had a solid reputation as a rugged performer that was nicely detailed inside and out. It was also better equipped to take on the full-size domestic pickups. Models equipped with the strong-running V-8 gave the Tundra strong hauling and towing power, but the smaller V-6 and V-8 engines were also capable.

Acura’s flagship sedan began as the 3.5 RL, which replaced the Legend for the 1997 model year. The 3.5 designation was dropped when the second-generation RL was launched for 2005. That model came with standard all-wheel-drive along with a 290-horsepower V-6 and a five-speed automatic transmission. The RL received a minor makeover for 2009 plus a new 300-horsepower 3.7-liter V-6.

For a compact utility vehicle, the Terrain treated its occupants to plenty of space, along with lots of stowage room behind the sliding rear seat. On both points, the Terrain was ahead of the competition. Ride quality was also above the norm, thanks in part to exemplary suspension tuning and sufficient distance between the front and rear wheels that helped smooth out rough roads.

Description

Minivans are all about functionality, first and foremost, and in that department the T & C excelled. But it also added more than a splash of luxury, which is what differentiated it from the similar, but more humble, Grand Caravan. For maximizing load volume, the second-row Stow ‘n Go feature made the second-row bench seat disappear beneath the floor, while the third-row seat could be equally well hidden.

Description

The A3 proved to be an excellent introductory model for the Audi line. Not surprisingly, there was a reasonable amount of stowage space in back and the rest of the interior was clean and uncluttered. The standard 200-horsepower turbo four-cylinder was a smooth-running jewel of an engine with enough spunk to propel the A3 to 60 mph from zero in 6.5 seconds (according to Audi). The optional 250-horsepower V6 made the Audi even quicker, while the torquey TDI’s arrival turned the car into quite the fuel miser.
