Media professionals demanding a variety of automotive topics for broader readership.
What it is:

Auto Know gives us the latitude to explore fantastic auto-related stories outside the realm of mere reviews. Whether it’s about how surround sound is engineered into a vehicle, European cars that will land on our shores, or knowing when it’s time to throw in the towel on your old beater, Auto Know is the perfect tool to capture new readers. . . with solid, interesting stories.

Description

Geoff Hacker calls his auto shop in Tampa, Fla., kind of an SPCA for a beautiful, but often ignored era of the American sports car that didn’t last long, yet still holds an indelible mark on the history of automotive design.
While many car collectors and enthusiasts spend their time and money hunting the popular classic chrome and steel models of the 1950s, Hacker and his business partner and buddy, Rick D’Louhy, keep their collective efforts focused on fiberglass.

Description

With a starting price in the $11,000-$13,000 range when new, the Rio was one of the more affordable models on the market and offered a strong alternative to purchasing a used car. Although small in stature, the interior provided plenty of space for four (five if back-seat occupants didn’t mind being crammed together) plus their belongings. The more versatile Rio5 wagon was the hauler of the two and was capable of transporting a considerable amount of gear with the rear seat folded down (although the load floor was not flat).

Description

Beautiful to look at, the 275 GTB had its flaws, such as a tight interior and terrible rear visibility. Whatever. The V12 engine buzzed to 8,000 revs per minute and put out 300 horsepower. At just 2,500 pounds, that meant zero-to-60-mph times of about 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 160 mph. It was the perfect Ferrari, at least as far as the 1960s were concerned. For Enzo Ferrari, the 275GTB and GTS series reaffirmed his company’s stature as a producer of first-class sports cars that, with their stirring mechanical sounds and captivating architecture, became the gold standard for the finest in no-expense-spared pure-bred supercars.
