I’d have to say that out of everyone at the Wheelbase headquarters, I easily rank among the top-five for identifying cars.
It should come as no surprise considering the amount of time I’ve played “guess that car” on long and harrowing family trips. There has to be a university degree in there somewhere, certainly in psychology.
But, today, I’m confused.

When it comes to picking a car, I have one rule: blue ones are the best.
Why? Lots of reasons. They run smoother, last longer, and tend to have more reliable engines. Well, that’s what I like telling my mechanic. It drives him nuts. At least while he’s cringing he can take some comfort in the fact that I know more about cars than I let on. Don’t get me wrong, I would never (knowingly) play helpless to manipulate some man into changing my tire; I know how.

Description

My nephew loves my car and he loves playing in the mud next to the driveway, although not in that particular order.
The last time I watched over him, he stomped around in the dirt until his boots were good and caked with thick, wet mud, the kind that’s impossible to clean until it dries. And then he had a tantrum in the neighborhood, so I stuffed him into the back seat for a ride to settle him down. Nephew + favorite dirty boots = one big mess for Aunty.

Allow me to explain. There’s this child (16) who lives down the street from me, and he ‘drives’ (I use the term very, very loosely) a rusted-out white little junker.

Description

It has been a Murphy’s Law type of year for my family, so I needed an excuse to get away for the weekend with my sister. Retail therapy was definitely in order. We were looking for a little excitement … and new pairs of shoes. Little did we know our diversion would become an “off-road” excursion. The plan was to set out early on a Saturday morning in her new tall wagon/crossover/sport-utility vehicle since it has much more storage room for what we hoped would be and awesome retail adventure.

So after arguing and getting nowhere, I was glad when Leanne finally said something I could agree with.

Have you ever tried to eat a tire? I feel like I just did. I spent the afternoon at a burnout contest, which is a testosterone-fuelled car competition where a bunch of (mostly) guys spin their tires until they literally blow up.
Clouds of thick smoke pour through the air as the rubber heats up. The taste is enough to choke you . . . which is why I’m thinking about eating tires.
