Available in 400-, 430- and 435-horsepower dosages, the top-of-the-line 427-cubic-inch V-8 had a reputation for being unruly, uncivilized and unbelievably quick. Charming, indeed. The L71 triple-carburetor setup, in particular, could reach 60 mph from rest in about 5.5 seconds and produce quarter-mile burns that would still be considered quick by today’s standards.

FIRST DRIVE: 2021 Ford Bronco Sport

Story Intro

The Bronco Sport is considered a crossover since it uses the same car-based platform as the Ford Escape. The Bronco Sport is about eight inches shorter (but two inches wider) and slots between the Escape and the much smaller EcoSport. The bigger Bronco is more of a rowdy off-roader as it gets its body-on-frame chassis from the Ranger pickup.
But just because the Bronco is more beefed-up doesn’t mean the Sport cowers in the face of uncharted terrain. Ford says the vehicle’s suspension has been thoroughly tested over the rough stuff and can stand up to plenty of abuse.

Description

Minivans, first and foremost, are all about function. In that department the T & C excelled, but it also added more than a splash of luxury, which is what differentiated it from the similar, but more humble, Grand Caravan. For maximizing load volume, the Stow ’n Go feature made the second-row bench seat disappear beneath the floor, while the third-row seat could be equally well hidden. The standard 283-horsepower V-6 was no slouch, whether accelerating from a dead stop or during highway passing.

Description

The introduction of the 300ZX didn’t just take the automotive world by storm, it signaled that the company had finally abandoned the aging 240Z-based shape that had been around since the early 1970s. The original Datsun (a Nissan brand name) Z-car had been a styling and sales triumph when first introduced, proving that a great-looking, great-performing GT-class car didn’t have to have a sky-high sticker price.
The 240Z was replaced by the 260Z in 1974 and the 280Z the following year.
