What is Auto Edit?

Welcome to AutoEdit, a new and slightly more irreverent weekly feature from Wheelbase Media.
Rather than your pages being a collection of random auto stories, the AutoEdit feature is intended to be the glue that holds it all together. Just as your editorial page is intended to be the pulse of your newspaper, Auto Edit can also be the pulse of your auto pages.

Auto edit runs 500-550 words and is all about your readers becoming more familiar with our key staff members via their personal views on the automotive world. Of all 18 of our weekly features, AutoEdit is the only one intended to provide weekly commentary. Journalistically speaking, this is just common sense since such commentary does not belong in our other news-type features.

Whether your readers agree or disagree with what’s written, they’ll know exactly how the writers of AutoEdit stand on their chosen topics. And, quite frankly, a little spirited debate is a healthy thing and that seems to be missing from more and more newspapers these days. AutoEdit is all about soul, getting back to the basics of solid content and showing readers that there are real people behind the nine-point typeface.

Story Intro

Another graduating class is out in the world and my eldest nephew is part of it.
So, my sister and her hubby decided to reward him with an automobile. Not a new one, but the trusty used Hyundai they bought for him to drive when he got his license a couple of years back. Yes, they’re giving it to him now.
He takes knocks for being the most careful – and the slowest – driver who ever lived. He doesn’t take after his uncle, it seems.

Topics Covered

Luxury electric on indefinite hold: Under intense pressure to increase global sales volumes, Infiniti’s new boss is realigning the company’s priorities by indefinitely putting on hold the 2015 Infiniti LE, which would have been the first all-electric mid-size sedan from the luxury brand. The battery-electric LE was to have been produced in the United States using more or less the same underpinnings as the all-electric Nissan Leaf, built in Smyrna, Tenn. Infiniti’s recently hired CEO Johan de Nysschen also made it a priority to kill off the Infiniti Emerg-E plug-in hybrid supercar concept last fall, one of his first actions after being hired. De Nysschen is also tempering expectations that Infiniti will nearly triple sales in four years, says industry publication Automotive News.

Description

Already, the buzz is feverishly building about the next-generation Ford Mustang, which will be introduced next year as a 2015 model.
The fact that the new Mustang is a hot automotive topic is hardly surprising. When Ford introduced the original Mustang at the New York World’s Fair on April 17, 1964, it was an immediate sensation, blowing past even the most optimistic sales estimates. Dealers ordered 22,000 Mustangs the day it was introduced, and in its first 18 months of production, Ford sold more than a million of them.
