Luxury electric on indefinite hold: Under intense pressure to increase global sales volumes, Infiniti’s new boss is realigning the company’s priorities by indefinitely putting on hold the 2015 Infiniti LE, which would have been the first all-electric mid-size sedan from the luxury brand. The battery-electric LE was to have been produced in the United States using more or less the same underpinnings as the all-electric Nissan Leaf, built in Smyrna, Tenn. Infiniti’s recently hired CEO Johan de Nysschen also made it a priority to kill off the Infiniti Emerg-E plug-in hybrid supercar concept last fall, one of his first actions after being hired. De Nysschen is also tempering expectations that Infiniti will nearly triple sales in four years, says industry publication Automotive News.

Both Ford and Chevrolet have to make a decision and it can’t be an easy one.
Where do they take the Mustang and Camaro next?

It’s the kind of question that keeps executives staring at the bedroom ceiling at 3 a.m. trying to think of an answer.

Other automakers have similar issues. BMW doesn’t dare mess up its 3-series and if Porsche makes a misstep with the 911, there will be heck to pay. Chevrolet has to be careful with the Corvette, but that doesn’t seem to stop the company from making drastic changes. Perhaps that has to do with the fact that the current Corvette has been around for close to a decade, so you can’t really have anything other that drastic changes, hence the gorgeous new 2014 model.

Description

As it turns out, there was little, if anything, that could stop him. From an early age, the founder of the Bendix Corporation showed the kind of spirit that comes around once every century or so. He was creative, fascinating and he was willing to take a few chances. In fact, Bendix ran away to Manhattan in 1898 at age 16, the scene for many entrepreneurs of the time.
