Description
Nissan’s entry nameplate joined the slightly larger Sentra sedan as the automaker’s two small-car models. Initially, both sedan and wagon body styles used the same 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that made 122 horsepower. However, a 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 107 horses came in a new base sedan for 2009. Three transmissions were initially available, including a six-speed manual, an optional four-speed automatic and a continuously variable unit that used a variable pulley system in place of a standard gearset. Both Versas received a modest restyling for 2010. A completely new Versa sedan replaced the original for 2012, while the Versa Note replaced the first-generation Versa wagon for the 2014 model year.
